As the Great Freeze of 2018 thaws out, I wanted to show you guys a fun, flirty outfit to start out this week!
I have always had a difficult time styling this skirt. I have owned it since high school and every time I try to play with it, it stumps me. That was until I stumbled upon this fun sweater!
This skirt makes me want to do a little salsa or eat a little salsa and shimmy my hips. The movement in the fabric is so fun!
Hope everyone’s holidays were full of love and family! As I had mentioned in my previous post, I have some exciting news for you all:
Drum roll, please…
I will be spending my summer in New York interning for Trina Turk!
I have never been so excited for something in my whole entire life. I have strictly been listening to New York themed music since I received the news! So if any of you guys will be in New York at all this summer please email/text/DM me so we can meet up, I would love to hang out with you all! (I would also love recommendations for things I need to check out while I am in the city so holla at me please)
There has been a recent cold front here in Louisiana and I am loving it! I use any excuse to whip out my cold weather gear (this body was meant to be covered).
Outfit Details
coat – Forever 21 (I also love throwing this coat on with athletic clothes and sunglasses for a chic errand look)
sweater – Love Boutique (old) ((I struggled finding similar sweaters but I have some suggestions for other sweaters that would give a similar look here, here, & here))
With Christmas rapidly approaching (less than a WEEK) I am scrambling to make sure all of my outfits are in order! Today is one of the last days to get your express shipping so your items come in before Christmas so make sure you online shop till you drop today.
For Christmas Eve outfits, I always try to dress up a bit because we attend Christmas Eve mass. I also try to incorporate a holiday color into my outfit because I just really love being festive! The winter is the perfect time to play with textures. This velvet red top is the perfect piece to spice up your holiday wardrobe!
Let’s talk about this jacket for a second, I got it at TJ Maxx (#maxxinista) for $25! AND the fur collar is detachable. I’ve been in love with it since I laid eyes on it. Not only is it fabulous for spicing up a holiday outfit, it is also super cute with an all black athleisure look (let me know if y’all want me to shoot that look for you guys)!
I hope your holiday season is full of family, friends, & traditions (& honey ham @mom&dad)!
I have some fun new posts in my repertoire so please keep Crème de la Claire on your radar. I also have very exciting news I plan to announce after new years! xx
Okay… obviously when you think “cool girl” you do not think Claire Plauche. You think people like Kendall Jenner, the Hadid sissies, or Rihanna… which is completely valid considered I trip over my own feet & make puns like “Daddily Cooper”.
However, I feel like I have finessed my way into having a relatively cool girl style. For my Sunday errands I try to leave my yoga pants at home & go for something less athleisure but still comfy & easy to get around in while being ~cool~.
I have come up with an equation for cool girl style:
Sneakers + Novelty Accessory + Basics = Cool
The sneaks say “IDGAF” while the structure of the sweater & shorts says “my life is together”. It’s all about the balance! & always throw in a pair of hoops for extra sass.
My novelty accessory in this look is my LA Dodgers baseball cap. I do not really keep up with baseball at all if I’m being honest, I just really love the fit & color of this hat. Other fun novelty accessories could be these sunglasses, this necklace, or this bandana. The possibilities are endless!
Outfit Details
sweater – Goodnight Macaroon (old) ((similar here & here))
hoops – Target (or as the boujee people like myself say, Targé)
Lately I had been noticing everyone in Baton Rouge had been posting pictures from a new coffee shop. Y’all know me… have a local artisan coffee shop, will travel.
French Truck Coffee recently spread its chain from New Orleans & opened up shop in BR off of Government street. It is 100% worth the trip there.
^You can’t fake that kind of happiness, people.
My order? Their signature iced Nola coffee!
Go be cool like me & get caffeinated, my friends! xx
Even though it’s in the upper 80s, lower 90s everyday here in Louisiana, I find myself yearning to wear sweaters & boots. It is difficult finding the balance of getting to wear fall clothes without having a heat stroke or breaking out into a heat rash like I did last week.
Since it is difficult to dress the Autumnal part, I compensated by decorating my house for the Fall & Halloween season instead of studying for my midterms (#priorities). To fully get into the Halloween spirit I had to make a trip to one of my favorite Fall places, the pumpkin patch!
I use the term “pumpkin patch” very loosely… it’s more like a nursery with a slim selection of pumpkins. But hey, beggars can’t be choosers!
Y’all… this SLEEVE! I love fun sleeves so I did not mind splurging on this insanely soft sweater.
I wanted to show you guys some of my favorite pumpkin carving/decorating ideas to get your house all dolled up for the spooky season. Let me know which one you think I should do for my front porch! xx
I have never been much of a workout fiend… I always stayed in shape through cheerleading or dance so I never had to worry much about exercise. However, college is unfortunately catching up to my 4’11” build. Finding the proper form of exercise was a definite challenge for me. I tried everything… running, yoga, pilates, gym, cycling… & could not find the right activity for me & my back situation.
A friend convinced me to try a barre class with her at this studio called Barre by Blair. YALL. This class kicked my ass (while simultaneously toning it). The instructor was very helpful with modifying workouts to fit my back condition. It has become tradition for my friends & I to go to barre together at night & catch up. The whole fam is toning up!
With my newfound love of barre comes a newfound need for workout gear! (I’ll take any excuse to shop honestly)
Heres some other precious & cost efficient work out clothes that can also work for campus!
Killer tops here, here, here (this is the workout equivalent of what I picture Meredith from the Parent Trap to wear), here, & here.
Snag some bootylicious leggings here, here, & here.
Lastly, thirsty gals gotta stay hydrated in style! You can find some cute bottles here & here.
If you’re looking to get in shape I highly recommend trying out barre! Blair’s studio offers an amazing student discount & you can try out your first class for free. Come hang with me at barre or grab some friends to ~werk~ on your fitness with! xx
I forget how much I love the South. Other than the positively scorching heat, there is a magic about the South in the summers. Now that gingham is popping up EVERYWHERE I was excited to join in on the fun, especially because I feel like gingham & the South go hand in hand.
I spent the past Saturday antiquing in Breaux Bridge with my mom. We always passed through the historical town but never stopped to smell the roses. On a whim we decided to see what the city had to offer.
Through our explorations we found this precious antique store called Artique.
After chatting with the owner & learning the history behind some of these amazing pieces she showed me something that made me giddy… hats!
She let me try as many as I wanted & even let me use her studio behind the store, called The Alleyway House, to take pictures in.
Vintage hats? Old southern backdrop? How could I say no?!
For those of you who have been following my blog or any of my social media accounts for a while now, you are very familiar with the fact that I ADORE lingerie & fine jammies. Literally every holiday or occasion, my friends receive either of those items if not both from me. There is just something about having on saucy undergarments that makes you feel powerful, like you have a dirty little secret.
If you find yourself in the Hammond, LA area, look no further to appease your appetite for beautiful underthings! Bra la Vie, a local fine lingerie boutique, just moved into a newer, bigger location. A friend of mine invited me to a little party to celebrate its big move & I was extremely excited to check out all of the wild pretty pieces Bra la Vie has to offer!
Just by looking at the store I knew I was in for a treat…
After basking in all of the lacy, sexy, kinky glory, I was spoiled with wine & cheese. I ate just enough to look like I was entering my third trimester of pregnancy in my fitted dress. Lucky for you all, I snapped pics just before my food baby set in.
For everyone who is constantly telling me how photogenic I am, for every picture like ^this… there is one like this…
I definitely plan on heading back to Bra la Vie to ~spoil~ myself. I highly recommend checking out their Instagram or stopping by the store if you have the opportunity!
Thanks for letting me hang out with y’all, Bra la Vie! xx
